To get the authorization code (also called an EPP code or Auth code) for your domain, log in to your current domain registrar's control panel, unlock the domain, and navigate to the transfer or security settings to view or request the code.
How do I transfer my domain name?
- Ensure that the domain is UNLOCKED
- Obtain the EPP code (also sometimes called the authorisation code or transfer key)
- Check the domains contacts and ensure that you are able to receive an email at the Administrative and Registrant Contact email addresses for the domain. If you change the contact details the domain may be locked for 60 days. If this happens you will not be able to complete the transfer until after that time.
- Ensure any domain privacy service is turned off - this could cause emails not be received by the Administrative or Registrant contact.
- Login to your Chkserv Client Portal and click on Domains > Transfer Domain to Us. If you don't have a customer account with us, create an account.
- Make sure your contact details and email is up to date.
- Enter the Domain Name you'd like to transfer, EPP/Authorisation code if required and click Add to Cart.
- Checkout to complete the part of this process.
Why am I being charged for transferring my domain name?
In order for us to transfer a non .uk domain name, we need to register the domain for an additional year. This year is added onto your expiry date, so you will not lose any time you have already paid for.
For example, If you have 6 months before your next domain renewal when you transfer to Chkserv, you will be invoiced for an additional year. Once the domain name has been transferred, your domain name will not be due for renewal for 1 year and 6 months.
